A quick strategy game for 2 players using items found around the house.

What You Need

  • 6 coins per player (2 each of pennies, nickels, and dimes)
  • One six-sided die
  • A chess board or 8x8 grid drawn on paper
  • Optional: Can be played on a smaller 6x6 grid for faster games

Setup

  1. Each player takes 6 coins (2 pennies, 2 nickels, 2 dimes)
  2. Place your coins on your back row in any order you choose
  3. Decide who goes first by rolling the die - highest roll starts

How Coins Move

  • Each coin can move up to 2 spaces per turn in any direction (including diagonally)
  • After a coin moves or attacks, flip it over to show it’s done for this turn
  • At the start of your turn, flip all your coins face-up again

How Coins Attack

Each type of coin has different attack abilities:
- Pennies can only attack enemy coins right next to them
- Nickels can attack enemy coins one space away
- Dimes can attack enemy coins two spaces away

To attack:
1. Roll one die
2. Need 3+ to hit if attacking from next to an enemy
3. Need 5+ to hit if attacking from farther away
4. If you hit, remove the enemy coin from the board

Special Abilities:
- Pennies: Can push enemy coins one space back when hitting them
- Nickels: Can move after attacking
- Dimes: Can attack twice per turn but can’t move if they attack

How to Win

Any ONE of these will win you the game:
1. Get any of your coins to the opposite end of the board
2. Control the center square for one full turn (start and end)
3. Remove all of one type of enemy coin (both pennies, both nickels, or both dimes)

On Your Turn

  1. Flip all your coins face-up
  2. You can do these in any order with your face-up coins:
    - Move a coin and flip it
    - Attack with a coin and flip it
  3. End your turn

Quick Tips

  • Short range coins (pennies) are strong up close
  • Medium range coins (nickels) are flexible
  • Long range coins (dimes) can attack from safety but need protection
  • Try to keep your coins working together

Game Length

  • Most games take 10-15 minutes
  • Perfect for best of three matches!
